This article posits an interpretative reading of ocular mutilation as a systematic political-police strategy applied during the so-called "social outbreak" in Chile, which began in October 2019. Based on the concept of "faciality", developed by Deleuze and Guattari, we suggest that such strategy suggests, on the one hand, the early recognition of the subversive potentiality of the revolt, difficult to deactivate by the governing powers. On the other hand, we hypothesize that the mutilation not only targets the eyes, but also the subjectivities that they seem to organize, which appear before the power as clandestine or nomadic. Therefore, ocular mutilation can be read as the political-police strategy of re-subjectivation used by the government to deactivate a political revolt which is also defined by lines of resistance that escape that strategy.
