In this paper we present four conclusions on the doctrine of extrinsic causes - efficient and final-elaborated by Duns Scotus, to which Ignacio Miralbell arrives in his book El dinamicismo voluntarista de Duns Escoto to critically evaluate them. Our objectives are to determine what kind of priority the efficient cause has in the Franciscan master's system and thus to qualify the voluntarism that is commonly assigned to him. To achieve this we will develop a little of his thinking from texts that Miralbell does not take into account and that, nevertheless, offer new lights to elaborate a different interpretative framework on those questions.
