This paper proposes, firstly, an analysis of the mechanisms of democratic innovation, especially the participatory budgeting (PB), in the critical dialogue between representative and participatory democracy. Secondly, it analyzes a descriptively map of the PB implemented in major Argentine cities based on the theoretical model outlined in the literature. Afterwards, we focus on the study of ten experiences implemented by local governments during 2012 and 2013: Six in capital cities (La Plata, Cordoba, Corrientes, Mendoza, Santa Fe, and Ushuaia) and in four municipalities of Buenos Aires (Avellaneda, Moron, Vicente Lopez and San Martin). Finally, as a conclusion, we present the questions that are relevant to formulate.
