This paper explores the mechanisms of media representations construction of artistic practices by women, in this case, of those done by the Minas de Arte group during the 1990s in the province of Mendoza, Argentina. Their study has significance within the local artistic field as we understand that some practices of this group can be considered as expressions of art of gender, because they criticized gender stereotypes. The theoretical point of view from which we conducted the analysis constitutes the link between studies on mediations, designed from a constructivist perspective of communication from which we understand media representations as forces acting in the cultural field, and the gender perspective, particularly from feminist art theory.
