This article introduces the historical case study of the Central Market in Concepcion, declared national historical heritage in 2014. It presents evidence that proves the attribution of the building complex' authorship to Hungarian architect and Bauhaus student Tibor Weiner false, and focuses on articulating a different historical narrative on the subject introducing new referents from which to reflect on this market building: colonial architecture and a link to wood architecture. The methodology is based on the analysis of built form and historical documents, as well as on the analysis of images and statements. The research intersects local history with translational history of modern architecture.
