The article states that the historical internal political discrepancies in the United States facing the problem of climate change have meant that this power has been giving up world leadership on this important issue on the international public agenda. This situation would be taken advantage of by China, which, as a rising global power, has decided to dispute the world leadership in the fight against climate change, under the exercise of what is considered the use of soft power in International Relations. This loss of leadership on the issue of climate change is viewed with concern by US politicians and analysts who believe that the soft power of the country is being significantly affected, which could end up affecting the intentions of pre-eminence and hegemony of the United States in the international order during this 21st century.
