Combined injectable contraceptives were developed to avoid the adverse effects caused by progestin injections in monotherapy, in addition to the suppression of the pattern of menstrual bleeding (effect that does not occur with combined injectable contraceptives). This presentation prevents ovulation in 99% of cases, as long as it is applied correctly and regularly. In recent years, combined injectable contraceptives have gained greater acceptance, due to the convenience of their administration and lower metabolic risk. Combined injectable contraceptives are an excellent method for women who do not have good adherence to oral contraceptive treatment and feel more comfortable with the monthl in ection.
