To study growth-climate relationships, diameter, basal area and height growth for Pilgerodendron uviferum growing in two Chilean forest glands at c. 42-degrees-S latitude, increment borer samples were used at breast height. The dendro climatic analysis shows that summer precipitation is the most important variable relating annual growth with the current and previous year's precipitation which has a decisive influence in the annual yield wood production. Radial average growth is 0.51 mm/year in Santa Lucia and 0.44 mm/year in Piuchue, and the correlation coefficient of the diameter/age relationship was 0.79 in Santa Lucia and 0.64 in Piuche. Similar results were obtained in the basal area/age relationship. The trees have a low growth rate in both sites. The maximum annual mean radial increment is reached at 110 years in Santa Lucia and at 50 years in Piu chue. Height increment appears to be similar in all trees analyzed, and differences can be attributed to understory position of some trees. The increment in height reaches a maximum of 5.5 cm/year.
