In 1984, the community of Arica, Chile, was exposed to an environmental burden of polymetals, as a result of which the Chilean government enacted the law No. 20,590 on May 29, 2012, which establishes an intervention program in areas with presence of polymetals in the Commune of Arica. However, despite the large amount of resources devoted to solve this environmental problem, the degree of satisfaction of the community with respect to the issue is still unknown. The goal of this study is to determine the perception of Arica's community in 2018 in relation to the measures adopted to treat people exposed to polymetals. An exploratory cross-design study was carried out in a sample of 300 volunteer participants with ages between 18 and 68 years. A survey was applied, which was divided into two segments: a data collection sheet and another section of multiple-choice alternatives related to the topic. SPSS software was used for analysis. Results show a higher proportion of women (57,7%) in the sample. Regarding the effectiveness of the measures adopted to treat people exposed to polymetals 59,4% declared a negative evaluation. From the results obtained, it can be affirmed that Arica's community does not agree with the measures taken to counteract the effects of polymetal contamination.
