This paper aims to present the experience of proposing the creation of the Tourism Observatory for Pichincha province (Ecuador). The research methodology has included the "Process Approach" focus on the realization of a set of mutually related activities that allows improving the information system based on feedback. The research showed the lack of reliable and up-to-date statistics and information in relation to the tourism market and the decision-making process of the public sector and the private sector.
