The objective of this work was to study the influence of amine on the degree of neutralization in the process of iron ore reverse flotation. Laboratory-scale flotation tests were carried out using etheramine acetate with a variable degree of neutralization between 10 and 70%. Amine levels of between 40 and 100 g/L were studied, maintaining the starch concentration constant at 550 g/L at pH 10.5 and percent solids at 45%. The mineral sample employed contained 49.27% Fe and 27.03% SiO2. This study verified that at a level of 40 g/L amine, recovery of iron was greater than 93% for neutralization degrees of 30 and 40% respectively. Under these conditions the iron content was 67% and silicate content below 2% in the concentrates, representing values, which are within market specifications for "sinter feed".
