The convulsive circumstances that surrounded the advent of Ferdinand VII to the Spanish throne led to a proliferation of festivities in which the American subjects endeavoured to demonstrate their love and loyalty. The study of the Baroque festivals of the Kingdom of Guatemala allows an approach to the representation strategies of the celebration in a marginal audience of the Hispanic empire and to the reformulation of baroque rhetorical formulas at the beginning of the 19th century.
