The recent urban metropolitan growing needs new tools to give value to this phenomenon from a sustainable point of view. This research has as a main objective to apply several indicators with territorial bases to the metropolitan area of Concepción (Chile). Geographic Information Systems (GIS) were used to monitor different patterns of land use, which are related to the territorial sustainability. The availability of the data and methods allow the easy application of the indicators in different scenarios.
