The increase of crime and sense of insecurity in the city of Buenos Aires has become a problem that affects everyday life particularly acute for low-income sectors. In response to a demand for greater security for the inhabitants of the Federal Capital, on July 4, 2011 the federal government launched the South Belt Unit Plan, a security operation involving the deployment of 2,500 policemen and prefects southern suburbs of the city. The measure seeks to increase the presence of security forces as a strategy to prevent crime in the areas of the capital where the ratio of police per capita is lower and levels of victimization are higher. The present study aims to contribute to the analysis of South Belt Unit Plan from noting some of its impact on the feeling of insecurity and management strategies developed by the insecurity of the urban residents Soldati, a large housing complex where Fear of crime is a key dimension in structuring daily routines.
