The parochial church of Tijarafe (La Palma, Canary Islands) is an example, extrapolable to other Canarian sites of worship, of architectural evolution and artistic enrichment. By drawing from the documentation within the frarcx:hial archives, this article examines said process of enhancement to the buildings and heritage of the church during the 16th and 17th centuries. Taking into account the specific characteristics of the chosen example and the generalities common to all buildings of the Modern Age in Canary Islands, this article offers information on the historical evolution of the church of Our Lady of Candelaria in Tijarafe.
