This paper introduces a theoretical discussion and a methodological proposal to the study of those intellectual Latin-American models that defined the Movimiento de Izquierda Revolucionaria (MIR) from both an ideological and a political perspective. In specific terms, it offers theoretical considerations to investigate the ideas that changed the political, economic and philosophical Latin-American thought and later became paradigmatic for the MIR. This approach aims to understand the connection between Latin American intellectuals and the revolutionary organization, making a distinction between those who played a paradigmatic role to the MIR and those who were active militants.
