This work has as main objectives: to indicate the key biographical characteristics of Hernan Vera Lamperein, National Education Award 2001, and to describe their participation in one of the most important education reforms that took place between 1945 and 1953 in Chile as part of the Movement of gradual renewal of secondary education in Chile. The methodology used is typical of historical studies; It has been based on primary and secondary sources; interviews were given by the protagonist himself and by people who meet him, at the same time, bibliographical revision was made in order to analyze his works and professional life.
