The article analyzes the possible influence of Stoicism on certain specific aspects of Kant's ethics. It argues in defense of the thesis that although Kant often criticizes Stoic ethics, particularly its eudaimonism, he also adopts certain Stoic positions in his ethics and incorporates them into key aspects of his Doctrine of Virtue. Specifically, the article attempts to show how Kant adopts the ideal of the Stoic sage and one of its most salient characteristics: apathy.
