ELT sites have been chosen after many years of site evaluation with various atmospheric turbulence profilers. ELT instrument planners are expecting reference profiles as input to the adaptive optics (AO) instrument performance estimators. It appears however that, for some AO modes like laser tomography (LTAO), the requirements exceed the available products in terms of altitude resolution. We explore the possibility of mixing long term statistics at low altitude resolution with high resolution data collected during short term campaigns to produce representative profiles.
