We introduce IMGpedia: A research proposal aiming to bridge structured knowledge-bases and multimedia content. Our concrete plan is to enrich DBpedia data with further metadata about images from Wikipedia, including content-based visual descriptors. Our concrete goal is to create a unified querying and inference system that allows for interrogating the DBpedia knowledge-base and the visual content of Wikipedia's images together. Our broader ambition is to explore methods by which multimedia data can be made a first-class citizen of the Semantic Web.
