This article provides an approach to the décima, especially décima improvised in Latin America. This is proposed as an emerging cultural field, due to its current revitalization. It's problematized in detail the cult / popular dichotomy, establishing a genealogy that explains from the history of Latin American literature. This is a theoretical exercise that putt in value of this poetic practice through the deconstruction of paradigms that remain it marginalized from the literary canon.
