The 2014 oil spill in Quintero Bay (Chile's V Region) was not an unusual disaster in this territory. The study - through the use of qualitative methodology - tried to find out how local social actors reacted to this incident. Results have indicated that the oil spill had consequences that went into different directions: It triggered the creation of new organizations, re-enacted old disputes among local actors, showed the type of relationship existing between community/government/industry and made evident how this type of crisis is interpreted.
