This paper corresponds to a case study that aims to analyze the changes in the salmon farming industry in Chile as a result of a biosecurity crisis that took place in the last decade. For doing that, in-depth interviews were conducted among industry’s managers and professionals, and statistical information and reports from regulatory agencies were analyzed. The results indicate that despite of the crisis, no significant changes in biosecurity were observed on the levels of cooperation among the companies. Some changes were partly the result of a new regulatory framework which raises doubts about the industry’s own capacity to face new events of crisis.
