In this essay, I propose to analyze political revolutions with the help of philosophical categories drawn from Aristotle and Kant. In its broad outlines, this analysis involves a consideration of the quantitative and qualitative, modal and positional, spatial and temporal, as well as substantive dimensions of the phenomenon in question. My claim is that such an approach enriches our understanding of revolution in a way unimaginable within the context of conceptual, socio-historical, or even political-economic studies.
