There is considerable international discussion and commitment from governments to minimize and/or compensate for the carbon footprint emitted as a result of fabrication of goods. Companies are starting to calculate their carbon footprint and commit to programs to compensate for the emission. Nevertheless very little engineering effort is done to incorporate into the engineering process tools which allow the designer to make decisions which lead into the minimization of the carbon footprint of a project over its lifetime from construction to the end of operation. This presentation fills in this gap and delivers results of the carbon footprint of a typical slurry pipeline project indicating the major contributors and the major engineering solutions which should be considered by designers and slurry pipeline owners in order to reduce the carbon foot of their projects from conceptualization to operation.
