There is no single and universal software development methodology that applies to all cases, but there is one that is best suited for each type of project. There are a large number of them that could be used in a software development project, however, the particularity of each project requires a thorough disposition of the activities, whether they are associated with traditional, agile or hybrid methodologies. Considering that the small projects and small teams are those that mostly lack a methodological framework to guide them, the article presents a guide that supports the project manager in make decision the most appropriate methodology, considering the characteristics and scope of the project. For this, the dimensions of the triangle of projects (cost, scope and time) are considered, as well as the methodology of Function Points.
