The research analyzes the relationship between legal interpretation and translation proposed by the School of Genoa. In particular, the work of Riccardo Guastini is analysed. The study questions that the relationship between legal interpretation and translation is an analogy as Guastini says. The theory of structural mapping from cognitive linguistics is used. The conclusions do not criticize the Genoese theory of legal interpretation, but rather present a description of a blind point in the theory. They also discuss the need to analyse the central works of the theory of law, from the point of the literary and rhetorical figures that unfold in the argument, to highlight the modes of thought involved in the use of these figures.
