This paper aims to describe and analyze the accreditation system of postgraduate programs in Chile, from its origins to the current National Accreditation Commission (CNA), which has the function of ensuring compliance with the minimum requirements which must meet the postgraduate programs to accredit. The origin, nature and objectives of the CNA will be studied, as well as the role of accrediting agencies in Chile. Central part of the work will focus on the accreditation process of postgraduate programs in Chile, ending with the presentation of some reflections and challenges that our accreditation model should assume.
