Inactivated hepatitis A vaccine is an valuable preventive prophylactic tool because of its high immunogenicity, capacity to induce immunological memory and high efficacy and safety profile. It may be utilized since 12 month age with excellent seroconversion. The several available hepatitis A vaccines are interchangeable facilitating its use in a public health setting. The best way to benefit countries like Chile with intermediate endemicity is to implement a cohort vaccination program and to use it in the control of circumscribed outbreaks.
