This articles focuses on a set of wooden qero cups painted with scenes that include Incas and members of the Anti people of the Andean lowlands. The first section of the paper offers details of how the scenes on the cups are constructed. The second part analyzes different interpretations of the scenes that have been proposed by other researchers and offers a new perspective, which proposes that the scenes were part of series of new narratives and myths constructed by Andean peoples during Colonial times. This new series positions the Inca as beings belonging to Nawpa Pacha (pre-Hispanic times), as inhabitants of the jungle (Paititi) or as members of the Anti people themselves. These interpretations enrich our knowledge of Andean colonial narratives about "the time of the Inca."
