This paper provides a robust predictive current control scheme for an open-end winding induction motor (OEWIM) drive. Combination of two 2-level voltage source inverter with a three-phase OEWIM produces space vector locations similar to a conventional 3-level inverter space. The finite control set model predictive current control (FCS-MPCC) is employed to avoid the complexity of modulation techniques for a dual inverter. Robustness of the FCS-MPCC strategy has improved by using two methods. First, a feedback sliding mode control is used to enhance the accuracy of the prediction model. This prediction model will reduce the effect of parameter variations. The Lyapunov theory is applied to evaluate the prediction model stability. Secondly, an extended state observer is designed for the speed control loop to deal with the load torque disturbances and uncertainties. The proposed speed controller leads to a more precise current reference which improves the robustness of the predictive control. The effective performance of the presented controller has verified by simulations.
