ORGANOCHLORINE PESTICIDES AND POLYCHLORINATED-BIPHENYLS (PCBS) IN MYTILUS-CHILENSIS COLLECTED FROM CORRAL BAY, CHILE

Abstract
Samples were analysed by gas liquid chromatography, using the electron capture detector (GLC-ECD-NI63). Fifteen organochlorine compounds were detected. Endrin and Dieldrin presented the highest average concentration: 2.20 and 1.63 mg/kg fat basis respectively. The PCBs levels were between 0.14 and 0.38 ppb based on fat. According to the levels allowed by international organizations, Endrin and Dieldrin were above the maximum residual level and the PCBs were below.
