The aim of this paper is to introduce the reader to the corpus of Cervantean editions and studies on Miguel de Cervantes within the framework of the naissance of Latin American Cervantean Studies during the nineteenth century and the first decades of the twentieth century. From 1833 onwards, the first Cervantean scholars from these lands joined the attempts to print and annotate Don Quixote, adding a personal imprint to the history of the different readings of the novel, even attempting new graphic representations for the characters of the Spanish novel. As the date of the centenaries of 1905, 1915 and 1916 came closer, Cervantean scholarship reassumed itself and sought new defining lines. Latin America joined the different Cervantean celebrations with strength, searching for its origins and understanding that they formed a de facto intellectual movement at the precise moment of their activity, thus creating their own history of readings of Cervantes from that moment onwards. Our aim will be, therefore, to establish a defined corpus of Latin American Cervantean studies within its own coordinates. In order to do so, we will depart from the conclusions drawn from the study of a Cervantean catalogue, taking as a point of departure the reference to the 1833 Quixote edition of the Imprenta de Arevalo (Mexico) until the celebration of the third centenary of Miguel de Cervantes' death, an anniversary which fostered a renovated approach to the figure of Miguel de Cervantes from Latin American writers and thinkers. This interesting movement assembled the festive and circumstantial spirit of the anniversary celebrations with serious literary scholarship and new trends in the history of humanistic research, adding as well a renovated spirit to the history of the different approaches to the edition of Don Quixote and the studies dedicated to the reception of the Cervantean legacy during the first decades of the twentieth century.
