Self-regulation includes learning different strategies. Metacognitive strategies i.e., how to set goals, evaluate, plan and monitor one's learning as well as some affective factors such motivation and self-efficacy are part of it. So in the field of language learning, it can be a kit of strategies but not as comprehensive as the one in language learning strategies classifications.
