The article analyzes the interaction between Soviet Komintern emissaries and local communist followers as well as important sectors of Chilean society. It recognizes that communism was a key national and international factor in Chile's political evolution during the twentieth century, when the country was closely linked with world politics. This contributes to the discussion regarding the international dimension of the construction of Chile's political culture during the twentieth century. The article reconstructs one of the first and enigmatic forms of linking the world communist movement and Chile's Communist Party. Documents from Komintern archives, memories and local press sources, were used to explore this topic.
