Telmatobius dankoi, a new species of aquatic frog from northern Chile (Leptodactylidae)

Abstract
A new species of aquatic frog, Telmatobius dankoi, is described in the proximity of Calama, Cordillera de Los Andes, northern Chile. The new taxon defers from their congeners by the absence of vomer, maxillary, and premaxillary teeth. Both sexes present horny small thorns on the posterior third of the body, flanks, head, and extremities. A postfemoral fold is evident. Immunological and molecular differentiation between Telmatobius and Telmatobufo is established. The taxonomic validity of Telmatobius is discussed.
