Cheilanthes glauca (Cav.) Mett., is a native Chilean species used in popular medicine for the topical treatment of wounds and contusions. A study on the total methanolic extract showed the presence of antioxidants in the ethyl acetate fraction. From this fraction, two known flavonol glycosides were isolated, quercetin-3-O-rhamnoglucoside and kaempferol-3,7-O-dirhamnoside. Both substances are described for the first time in this species. Structural elucidation was carried out by comparison with standard substances, chemical hydrolysis, UV spectra, (1)H- and (13)C- NMR, COSY (1)H-(1)H, DEPT and MALDI-TOF MS. Only quercetin-3-O-rhamnoglucoside (rutin) showed unspecifiic in vitro decolourizing activity upon DPPH radical.
