Structural changes in metropolitan labour markets under the process of reestructutration-informationalization-globalization, had become a central issue for the study of the transformation of the cities during the last decades. According to this perspective, this article analizes the impacts that the capitalist modernization in Chile has had on their labor market and the evolution of income distribution, and upon this base, observes their effects on socio-territorial estructuration of the Great Santiago, specially discussing the pertinence of the dualization theory for this particular case. For that, main characteristics of this theory are drawn, at the same time, the basis with that has been presented and the causes that are attributed to it are analized. In the second part, main transformations that had occured in this period of capitalist modernization in Chile are examined, along with the evolution of social inequalities and urban segregation in Great Santiago, under the transformations occured in labor market In the third and last part, discussion about the pertinence of the dualization theory to the Chilean case is posed.
