In this reading of Itaca [Ithaca] by Tomas harris I try, first, to define the historical moment in which this work was produced and, second, to show how the poetic subject who lives in it reflects on of the human types of our time "the anesthetized" We usually speak of a subject anesthetized by TV, by the simultaneously in which everything happens as we watch a TV screen, a viewing machine that has altered not only our experience of time but also an essential cosmic principle distance. Finally, I discuss how, in the context of Itaca [Ithaca], we can understand the commonly used notion of the death of art.
