Modulation of multilevel converters is the focus of researchers looking for high quality of the output waveforms with low losses. This paper shows that multiple switching sequences can be used in order to generate the desired phase voltage. A simple two-dimensional modulation technique for two-cell multilevel cascaded converters is introduced in this paper. Using a two-dimensional control region, all the possible switching sequences of the power converter are taken into account. The final switching sequence can be chosen improving some power converter features. Simulation results are shown in order validate the proposed technique.
