Abstract

The article exposes the development of the Project of Teaching Innovation, Macro-curricular Design for the formulation of the career of Design in Visual Communication in the Department of Advertising and Image, based on the Strategic Plan and Educational Model of the University of Santiago de Chile. This initiative emerges from the Advertising and Image Department of the Technological Faculty of this academic institution to extend its academic offer in related disciplinary lines. An updated disciplinary, academic and professional diagnosis was made of the career of Design in Visual Communication, projecting a vision and curricular structure that would systematize the teaching-learning process, guiding the training itinerary, and providing a well-founded support to obtain the professional title of Designer in Visual Communication and academic degree of Design Degree in Visual Communication. In the planning a mixed methodological approach of qualitative and quantitative methods was used, in a research of graduation profiles and curricula of prestigious national and international universities, the bibliographical revision of current theoretical referents, and the realization of focal groups and focused surveys. The relevant information was processed and consolidated by a curricular committee in a related analysis complemented by feedback from the academic community for greater reliability and validity of the investigative process.
