Abstract
As of 2002, the IWA proposes the non-use of the Loss Index expressed as a percentage of consumption. This documentary research describes the proposal made by the IWA, as well as the current international reality regarding the estimation of this indicator of supply system management, the German experience and the Venezuela case and its context Latin American.
