The main aim of this research is to propose the concept of light innovation, which has a more holistic and holistic scope on non-intensive innovations. A conceptual review is made on frugal innovation, reverse innovation and soft innovation as non-intensive innovations. The result of the conceptual review is the definition of light innovation and proposes its systemic approach. This new approach introduces a definition with a more holistic and integral view on non-intensive innovations. Likewise, the approach allows us to determine the dynamics and influences of the generation of light innovations at different levels and determinants for their development. Finally, the definition and systemic approach allow identifying which are the keys factors in the process of light innovations and can be used as an aid tool to measure these types of innovation at a business and academic level.
